YEAR MILESTONES
1955 The South Indians’ Organisation founded on 10.04.1955 with the primary objective of providing quality education.
1956 Primary School section opened on 1.7.1956 with 27 children in Ist & IInd standards
1957 Our Strength rose to 65 with a addition of Standard III, 
1958 We Shifted to a temporary shed at Giri Vihar for the IV std.
1959 Our visionaries acquired a land admeasuring an area of 1200 sq. yards near the railway station. We shifted to the new    plot with addition of standard V.
1960 Additional land admeasuring 2300 sq. yards acquired for our VI standard and strength jumped to 315 children
1961 Introduction of Shift system commenced. Kindergarten Classes started: also Standard VII Strength went up to 417.
1962 Standard VIII started, Secondary Section started bursting at the seams. Strength rose to 530.
1963 Foundation stone laid for a permanent School building by the late Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri M. S. Kannamwar on 23.3.1963. The school lined up with other educational giants with 730 students and standard IX started.
1964 The school saw the addition of one more standard in the form of Standard X (SSC)
1965 Late Chief Minister Kannamwar who laid the foundation stone on 23.03.1963 and the new Buildings was inaugurated by the Governor Late Dr.P.V.Cherian cut the ribbon and cracked the coconut on 07.03.1965. Vani Vidyalaya records their services in memories of its alumni. The school became a full fledged High School.
1966The first batch of 25 students appeared for SSC Examination under the dynamic control and administration of Principal Smt. Lalitha Sharma. With 88% of pass results were stunning! The first decade of noble service had at last borne fruit.
1967The second batch of SSC students broke the earlier record by getting 96% results which continues to be all time record.
1968Second phase of the School building was taken on hand with the addition of four more class rooms in the third floor of the building. 
1969The second phase of construction of the Central Wing was completed with the addition of 3 more rooms on the ground floor of the central wing.
19701970> The strength of the school reached the all time peak of 1321 and with 45 members of the staff, the need for additional rooms was keenly felt. The year also saw electrification of the entire existing school building.
1972Starting of the third phase of the school building. Addition of beautiful library and excellent laboratory.
1973Continuous and credible results in SSC examination. One of our students was the first amongst the girl students in Bombay to top the list.
1974Our students brought honours by scoring top marks in Tamil and Malayalam in the whole of Maharashtra State.
1975Introduction of Junior College. Ours being the only English medium school, there was heavy rush for admission. Expansion of laboratory was planned to meet the needs of Junior College students.
1976Addition of good number of useful reference books to library for the benefit of students and teachers was purchased. Science Exhibition arranged by the School, to bring out hidden talents amongst the students.
1977Provided additional facilities to Junior College and SSC students by expanding facilities of Physics, Chemistry and Biology laboratory.
1978Introduction of Cash Award, Merit Scholarships, resulted in enhanced results. A student of SSC obtained first rank in Higher English in the State, bringing honours to the school.
1979Coincide with the celebration of the International Year of the Child Junior K.G., section was opened.
1980 Silver Jubilee Year Celebrations – Silver Jubilee Year was celebrated in a grand scale for 3 days with cultural programs. Final phase of school building with 12 additional rooms was planned to meet the ever increasing demand for admission.
1981Our student was the Highest scorer in Tamil in the Whole of Maharashtra SSC Examination in March 1981
1982Vani Vidyalaya Employees Welfare Scheme launched on 01.01.1982. This scheme, in turn, benefits them on superannuation. Felicitating all students who secured 80% marks and above in aggregate and individual subjects in SSC examination was introduced.
1983Vani Vidyalaya acclaimed the best exhibit (theme) service shield at the North Mumbai Science Fair 1981-82 for Secondary Schools and Junior Colleges. The management had entered into the field of professional education by establishing SIO Institute of Management Studies” in July 1983. We started at 6 months Diploma course in Computer profession.
1984A special incentive was granted by the Government of Maharashtra as the best managed school with a clean Academic record. Vani Vidyalaya was one among the few where staff were selected for computer education. Vani Vidyalaya Junior College was requested by the Government to open Commerce division and additional Section for Science by the Department of Education.
1985A fund raising programme for the ensuing building-extension project was commissioned.
1986This year marked a landmark day for the school as well as the children. On Gudi Padwa day the Bhoomi Pooja was performed for the new extension building.
1987Holy visit of Shri Shankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti his Holiness Sri Jayendra Sarawathi to the school. The Seer blessed the school and the children and wished them a happy and prosperous career.
1988Our students topped the list in Tamil and Malayalam in the State in the SSC Examination. Our school also found a place in the Merit List.
1989The work on the new extension of the Building was completed
1990Principal Mrs. S.S.Raj, after serving for 15 years, called it a day and retired in September 1984. The management wished to place on record its appreciation of sterling work done by her during her tenure as the Principal of the School.
1991A get-together of members was arranged to know the interaction of the members for the upliftment of the school. The school bagged 1 Prize for the project “Village & Science” in the T Ward Science Exhibition.
1992This year the school had converted the ACC roof over four class rooms into RCC. This action was done to give comfort and pleasure for the children.
1993The Education Department conducted T-Ward Science Exhibition at the school for the third time in a row and our school won as many as five prizes. Computer class was started for students of V to VII standards who were taught basics of Computer systems and applications.
1994 In this year, the school contributed substantially towards earthquake relief fund to uplift the poor and innocent people who were affected by this natural calamity.
1995Our students of SSC got cent percent result. The management felicitated the teachers and students who brought such laurels to school. Our student Shadu Sampat brought the school to international fame by winning silver medal at 7th Kobota  World Cup Karate Championship held in Los Angeles, California. Harish Narayan brought us Interstate glory by representing Maharashtra State at the All India Chess Competition.  Our own Ashok Balakrishnan acted in the lead role as Krishna in the Tele-serial name Krishna
1996Our students of SSC provide again by securing cent percent results and also two of them secured Merits. The school had the distinction of scoring highest marks in Science, Maths, Tamil and Malayalam. Rotary Club of Mulund adjudged our School as the best school in Mulund. To encourage young students, we initiated Chamber Music Programme in June 1995 and conducted 12 programmes during the year.
1997This year marked the hatrick for scoring cent percent results. The Management, in turn, felicitated the teachers and the merit rankers thereby not only recognizing their talents, but also acknowledging their efforts.
199850 Year of Independence A grand get-together of Managing Committee members and staff of the school was organized to celebrate the 50th Independence day.
1999The result analysis of the HSC exam, our Junior College stood 11″ position out of the total 182 Junior colleges in Mumbai.

Mrs.C.Vijayan, a Senior Teacher in Secondary Section bagged Dronacharya Award instituted by the Maharashtra Seva Sangh. Our school students also participated in Flower Show “Basant 98” and won awards.

The Management and Staff paid glowing tributes to the departed President K. Sivasankaran who was instrumental in bringing this school to greater heights.
2000New Millenium Celebrations: A get-together arranged on the 1st day of New Millenium 2000 for members and families of the Organisation.

Mrs. Mary Thomas took over as the Principal of the Institutions. Also in this year children contributed their mite to help the brave warriors of the country who were affected in the Kargil War.
2001A National calamity in the form of earthquake in Gujarat. Our school children rose to the occasion to help the people by their voluntary contribution which was earmarked for the rehabilitation of a school in Bhuj which collapsed during the earthquake.
2002In the T-Ward Science Exhibition conducted this year, our school won many prizes. Mrs.Lakshmi Balakrishnan one of our most talented teachers bagged the First Prize for Teaching Aids in the Science Exhibition. The notable factor was that Mrs.Balakrishnan was winning this prize for the last five consecutive years. A summer camp was organized at the school for the first time Children were given training in improving communication skills, home management, music, dance, debates, dramatics and newsletter writing.
2003Vani Vidyalaya continued the tradition of securing cent per cent results in SSC. Mrs.Vanita Krishnan, became the top ranker in Hindi in the whole State of Maharashtra and was honoured by the Government. Mast Mohnish Gala won the Karate World Championship held in London. Mrs.Lakshmi Balakrishnan, our Teacher bagged the National Award for Researcher’s Creative Techniques in Class Room Teaching. At the “Rang Tarang Fest” held at Thane, Vani Vidyalaya Junior College was adjudged the best out of the 43 participating colleges.
2004Our students of SSC proved again by securing cent percent results in SSC Exams. Students of HSC also kept up the tradition of securing excellent results securing 99 percent. Golden Jubilee celebration was planned with Social, Cultural, Physiological and Spiritual Aspects of Life, Social Aspect by helping the poor and needy. Our hand stretched out to:-
1.The destitute at Prem Daan, Airoli with Rs. 1 lakh
2. The old and aged at Jankalyan Sevashram with Rs. 1 lakh
3. Mentally retarded and Deaf and Dumb children at Astitva, Dombivili with Rs. 1 lakh.
4. Adivasi boys at Thane Vivekanand Balakashram with Rs. 70,000/-
2005A year of mourning. We lost one of senior most Managing Committee member and Past President Mr.C.B.Arunachalam on 3rd December 2005 whose target was only the growth of the institution. The Management paid rich tributes to Late C.B.Arunachalam by naming the Audio Visual room in his name and also SIO Library.
The Class Concert ‘Spectrum 2006’ was introduced for many young talents.
2006VANI VIDYALAYA has been adjudged as the “DEST SCHOOE for the year 2005-2006 by the Rotary Club of Mulund and LIONS CLUB of Mulund. The students of SSC kept up the tradition of securing cent percent. The CB.Arunachalam Audio Visual centre wasinaugurated in July 2006 Students bagged at the three prizes at the Interschool Greeting Card Competition conducted by the Mid-day Newspaper Vishal Balasubramaniam of Sto X has done the school proud by scoring highest marks in composite Hindi/Tamil language. He has been honoured with Professor S.1.1yer Award from the Education Department.
2007The year also marked the achievement of the School getting cent percent results in SSC Teachers of the Secondary Section proved their talent by binin prizes in the Teaching Aid Competition held by Brihan Mumbai North 20 Diploma in Vocational Guidance and Selection made the school proud by standing first at the institute Students in the primary Gold, Sven and Bronze at the 15 National World Funakoshi Shotokan Karate Championship
2008This year began with the celler results ESSC and HSC with cent percent.
2009Vani Vidyalaya bagged the IInd Best School Award for the your 2009-2010. Jc College won the “Best College Award eclared by Kalakrit Youth Association, Thane Smt.Lakshmi Balakrishnan was the recipient of State Award for the Best Teacher 2008-09.
2010Vani Vidyalaya was awarded the Best-School, 1 Runner Up by Lion’s club of Mulund, Vanians secured First Prize for the Project on AIDS at the Wind Science Exhibition. The Project on Vocational Guidance bagged the Second Prize. The project on AIDS was qualified to participate at the Zonal level and secured first Prize Akshay B Ramaswamy of TV A won four Silver Medals at Maharashtra State Level Karate Championship for Kunnnite and Kata in Green Belt category,

2013A joyous and proud moment for the Institution why Vanian stood TOP among other institutions in Mulund with a record percentage of 97.27% at the SSC Board Examinations held in March 2013 Heralding a new dawn, Vani Vidyalaya made a thumphant victory by scoring 100% results in both XII Science and X Std Board xams continuously Science Fair is the fount of all knowledge and many schools in T Ward (Mulund-Bhandup areas) showcased their talents with their projects, as taught by their experienced teachers T-Ward Science Exhibition for the academic year 2013-2014 was held at S10’s Vans Vidyalaya, Mulund (W), from 3 December to 5 December 2013. The exhibition was organized by the Education Inspector Greater Mumbai, North Zone and T-Ward Science Exhibition & Co-curricular Activities Committee. The theme for the exhibition was ‘Scientific and Mathematical Innovation
2014A Year of celebrations of our Diamond Jubilee-60 years of existence – A Great event to remember. Elaborate arrangements were planned from the beginning of the Academic year to make the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations a grand event.  A remarkable and a memorable milestone is achieving continuous 100% results in our Board examinations
